If it wasn’t for my teenage daughter, I wouldn’t have any clue what that acronym means. It means “You only live once.” I like that. I like to be challenged to seize every moment, and see it as a gift from God. That is why this weekend, I am heading to St. Louis with my family to travel down into an old sand mine to go “sperunking.” What?

Sperunking is what organizers call the Sandmine Challenge, a four-mile underground obstacle course race. A lot of people have asked me why? My answer to them is why not? It sounds fun, and like a challenge.

Too often I think we let things hold us back from new experiences, or ones that expand our comfort zone. I think it is by taking on those challenges that we grow. I think it’s a good idea to trust in God and expand our horizons. After all YOLO, right?
