The Grace of the Moment

The Grace of the Moment

One of my favorite places to hang out is the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Last week, the Harding University choir was visiting the city from Arkansas and stopped by the zoo. They noticed the acoustics in the reptile house and decided to hold an impromptu concert. I saw the video on Facebook and it brought tears to my eyes. It was just what I needed at the end of a long day. The simplicity of the traditional American hymn pulled me out of my overthinking. “Let’s go down to the river to pray… Good  Lord show me the way.”

I love the spontaneity of it, the grace of the moment. I’m so happy that Kira Stegman recorded one of the songs and shared it on Facebook. It’s easy to make fun of social media, but I know that I’ve become aware of so many bits of beauty and grace that I would otherwise have missed. That too is grace.
