Books, Books, Books!

Books, Books, Books!

ServantLogoAd_09-06Working in product development here at Servant Books, I’m always looking for new concepts that will strike a chord with our readers. Many of our authors have a steady stream of new ideas, and it’s both challenging and rewarding to be able to develop some of these into attractive, inspiring books.

But today I’d like to hear from the readers of this blog. What topics do you want to see covered in books these days? What catches your eye as you’re browsing in a bookstore or online? What formats are especially appealing? Do you still enjoy print books, or is your reading mostly digital now?
I’ll be attending the Catholic Marketing Network convention in August, networking with authors, booksellers, and colleagues in the industry. I’m sure I’ll come back with some new book ideas, so stay tuned!

I believe books dealing with human suffering would be beneficial and a timely topic.

What would be interesting is knowing is what are the three best selling titles from Servant in the last three years. Once I had that information, then I would explore who is buying and why, take a look at all that is going on in publishing and then go from there. Publish fewer titles with greater emphasis on marketing to a broader group of folks. However, it seems to me that Servant is publishing for a what I would consider a more traditional Catholic market. Yes, there is a need there, but it is only one small niche. But then it may be the only niche that is buying books.
