Spring’s Promise

Spring’s Promise

Living in Ohio gives me the wonderful opportunity to enjoy the four seasons. I have to admit that I am a fair-weather fan, never liking it too hot or too cold. So spring is one of my favorite seasons. After a cold winter, I anxiously look for the signs of the warmer weather that spring brings.

This morning, while drying my hair, I noticed a little ladybug crawling on my bathroom mirror.  I found myself smiling, because once the ladybugs arrive it means spring is here. Some might find the idea of a “bug” in their house a nuisance, but I find the ladybug in my home the best way to measure spring’s true arrival. Besides, it’s small and cute. How much trouble can a couple of ladybugs be? I also know these little ladies will be taking care of the aphids on my rose bushes later this summer.

In among the weeds of my winter garden new growth of plant life is showing promise. Soon the roses will be blossoming, loving the sunshine in the front yard, while hostas and mounds of bleeding hearts will enjoy the cooler shade in my backyard.

Spring is a perfect time to realize God’s handiwork.

Perfect weather, little ladybugs hard at work protecting my rosebushes, shots of color and blends of green bringing harmony to my gardens. Each spring I am always anxious for the new life–new beginnings that God promises us each year.
