November Issue has Something for All

November Issue has Something for All

In this season of  over-spending, retail wars and traffic jams it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the weight of it all. But Advent approaches—a season that all but begs us to slow down, regroup and wait in hope.

The November issue of St. Anthony Messenger offers the perfect respite from the noise that surrounds us. This issue includes:

B.G. Kelley’s cover article about the film The Mighty Macs, a Cinderalla story about a basketball team from Philly who won it all—from tiny Immaculate College.

Father Richard Hilgartner’s article “The Roman Missal: Embracing the New Translation”—in which he explains the changes in the Mass.

Mary Ellen Pellegrini’s touching article ”High School Pallbearers,” about young men in Cleveland’s St. Ignatius High School who bury strangers who have no one to mourn them.

Kathy Coffey, a favorite author of ours, tackles the subject of Advent, offering tools to turn down the volume during this holy season.

Finally, Sister Rose Pacatte, F.S.P., in light of November being National Adoption Awareness month, profiles Patrick Ferraro, a lifelong Catholic who crossed oceans to find his birth family.

The editors at St. Anthony Messenger are proud of our November issue and feel it is a useful companion as you approach the season of Advent.
