Today is March 2 and I am hopeful.
This weekend, I will buy pansies and plant them so my thoughts turn toward spring. February is a dreary month in Ohio and every year I look forward to the ritual of planting pansies.
I have much to be thankful for this year: my family, my health, my job, and my hope for spring. Pansies in my garden signal the hope for me each year.
Next Tuesday is Mardi Gras and I am rejoicing.
My cousin’s yearly Mardi Gras celebration is this Saturday. I will enjoy the gumbo, shrimp, King cake and music. This celebration before Ash Wednesday is a time to thank God for the abundance in my life.
Next Wednesday Lent begins and I am seeking.
Lent is late this year so Ash Wednesday next week is a long time coming. February’s dreariness dragged on because Lent began in March. Yet, same as other years, this Lent I will seek time for spiritual reading, for pray and for ways to give whether alms or time. I will avoid Girl Scout cookies and meat on Fridays.
I look forward to this spring timeline ritual of pansies, Mardi Gras and Lent.
What is your spring timeline? What rituals do you enjoy during Lent?
